Food & Wine To Do List

Niagara is chock-a-block full of culinary activities this summer. We see the oyster bars, smell the bbq grills; and we no longer need to feel like we have to book ahead for a taste; we no longer have to make reservations. The whole experience has become one in which “visiting” a winery means relaxing outside in the fields and vineyards–its become an outdoor experience. Bistros, flights and bites, piazzas–these are new offerings that must be indulged. Check our Foodie Events Calendar for all the food and wine activities across Niagara this summer.

For an even more substantial excursion, here are some culinary events that DINE recommends over the summer (these ones do require reservations, and are absolutely worth it):

Savour the Sights: Travel through an epicurean experience including five courses of fine VQA wines and food served in picturesque locations throughout the winery. (April 21, May 26, June 2, July-August TBD, September 22, October 27, November 24, December 1)

Amphitheatre Concert Series and Amphitheatre Dining Options: 12th Jackson-Triggs Amphitheatre Concert Series (June through September) offers a relaxing way to enjoy Wine Country at its best— experiencing top Canadian performers while savouring Niagara’s outstanding VQA wine and local fare. Amphitheatre Grill: Under the tent, near the vineyard or in the Amphitheatre, enjoy concession items ranging from grilled sausage and wood oven pizza to corn on the cob and popcorn. Barrel Cellar Dinner (including performance) For more upscale dining, guests are invited to attend a candlelit dinner in the traditional barrel cellar. Relax before the show while enjoying a delectable four-course tasting menu presented by the Great Estates of Niagara Culinary Team, accompanied by a selection of Jackson-Triggs finest VQA wines. This is truly an intimate and unforgettable dining experience! Also check out the new Wine Flights with Food and Jackson-Triggs Burger Bar which continues until the start of the concert (8:00 pm).

Inniskillin Wines
Vineyard Market Grill: 11am-4pm, weekends from May 19th to June 30th and daily from July through September. Market Grill aromas greet us as we arrive on the Piazza at Inniskillin Wines. We choose from locally inspired food samplings to mix and match with a glass of premium VQA wines.

Cooking with Ice: A Seasonally Inspired Food Demonstration: Weekends from May 19th to June 30th, and daily from July through September at the Demonstration Kitchen in Founders’ Hall. We watch as a member of the culinary team prepares two Icewine inspired dishes while sharing wine and food pairing tips.

The Great Canadian Kitchen Party!: Hands-on interactive group experience of chopping, slicing, stirring, sipping, and smiling as chefs take us on a culinary journey reflecting cuisine inspired from across Canada. Donning chef hats and aprons we are divided into smaller teams to each take on a course from our Canadian menu. Friendly competition heats up as our team endeavours to prepare the best dish. The finished meal is enjoyed family style as we toast to our culinary accomplishments with a variety of fine VQA wines including the coveted Icewine.
