SARA SAYS…

Tradition! Leo Spralja, owner of Joso’s, chef, photographer and all around charmer, continues the family tradition in this unique restaurant/art gallery created decades ago by family patriarch, Joso Spralja. Along with Shirley Spralja, his energetic wife who manages the business end with bubbly enthusiasm, Joso’s is better than ever. An internationally renowned restaurant, the world’s glitterati beat a path to its door. Mention Toronto to a showbiz personality or corporate magnate and they will talk about Joso’s and tell you about their favourite dish. They, as well as us locals, recognize the distinctive personality of this restaurant and appreciate it.

It is not easy to tear your eyes away from the exuberant erotic art that fills every inch of the walls. But the “show and tell” tray of fresh fish and seafood that’s presented by the server grabs your attention. In minutes, the chosen finny creatures have been grilled and brought whole on the plate, Adriatic-style. But it’s not all about fish; Leo has won international awards for his risotto nero and spaghettini alla Siciliana, brilliantly sauced with the black ink of cuttlefish.

It’s a rare day when Joso’s is a celebrity-free zone, and the good food and wine—and its distinctive ambience—keep everybody happy.
