SARA SAYS…

Romantic whispers within softly lit thin curtains, spacious faux-stone walls, grand mirrors and white tablecloths. Live music is also soft – we can still enjoy good conversation. As the piano plays in the background, the after-work crowd lingers into the evening over tapas at the bar, while in the dining room, the celebrations of a 30th birthday and a 50th wedding anniversary take place.

Braised octopus with cannellini bean puree, confit garlic and tomato, grilled pineapple and Harissa sauce; white wine mussels, and charcutterie are savoury ways to cap the day or begin the evening. Al dente is a given, as this chef speaks the language of pasta fluently. Rigatoni Bolognese– bellissimo! Spaghettini with peaches, tomato concasse, mozzarella, basil and a fennel-shallot-vinaigrette is the creation of a virtuoso. The braised lamb shank is one of the greats in this city, and the medallions of veal with sage and prosciutto in Marsala wine with sweet potato gnocchi begs for a pairing from the extensive wine list. Ten-course wine pairings and wine-tasting dinners are a monthly event. A generous mound of strawberries in red-wine juice is lovingly presented in a wine glass…to share. Coffee comes with small biscotti in the spoon. Blu is the colour of mystery, but here no stone is left unturned.
