Anyone who knows a toddler knows Paw Patrol. What The Beatles were for our parents, Paw Patrol is for our kids. A Canadian creation, Paw Patrol mania has swept the world. So, when the opportunity to see them live comes along, we pounce!
March 16, 17, 18, Paw Patrol will be Live at the Sony Centre in Toronto! (Get Tix Here: www.pawpatrollive.com). Recently I spoke with “Skye” played by Kelsey Krull.
Why is Paw Patrol such a phenomenon?
KK: I think every child can identify with the characters of the show. Each pup has a specific talent that each child can relate to and identify that makes them want to watch and learn more about that pup. This show is not only entertaining, it’s also educational, and conveys to the kids how to be a good citizen; how to be part of a team; and it especially works on critical problem solving skills. It’s a great experience for the whole family. When the parents see how excited their kids get, it makes them happy and excited too.
What is the reaction of the audience?
KK: When the pups first come out on stage, the kids go wild. They’re screaming the names of the pups, and they’re so excited to see their favourite TV stars come to life! It’s a real experience for them. They’re so happy, they sing along, and they get so involved in the production, because there is a lot of audience participation. To see them get up and dance—the energy is incredible!
Tell me about your role?
KK: I bring “Skye” to life. We’ve done a lot of research on the show and the characters so that every performance is an authentic experience for the kids. These kids know Paw Patrol inside and out, so it’s our job to make sure that they can believe everything they’re watching.
What can we expect from this production that makes it a unique experience?
KK: There are two productions in Canada right now: “Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure” at The Sony Centre in Toronto; and “Paw Patrol Live: Race to the Rescue” in Edmonton and Vancouver. For the Toronto show, the Pups find a treasure map, and the audience has to help them navigate the clues to find the treasure before Mayor Humdinger gets it. In both productions there are a lot of musical numbers, dancing and audience participation. The audience is inspired to get involved and be part of the adventure!
Even in conversation, I can feel the energy and infectious enthusiasm for this show. It runs 1hr and 15mins with a 15min intermission. VIP tix (Very Important Pups) can be purchased for a post-show experience to have a little party with Ryder and the Pups with pictures, snacks and music. “Dinner and a show” with my son will never be the same again!
