When it comes to rock ‘n’ roll, we’re always looking for the next big thing…something with attitude and a real kick, something that at our next barbeque we can put on to rev it up. Dine Alone Records has developed three new acts: the explosive “Southern Blues”, the spicy “Northern Soul”, and a hot number called, simply, “Rock ‘n’ Roll”. They’re each really saucy and liven up the traditional classics from Meatloaf to Wild Turkey and Dixie Chicken. For something meaty, or if you’ve got chops, you’ve got to check them out.
Dine Alone Records is a an independent Canadian record label that specializes in alternative rock, and currently represents bands like Jimmy Eat World and the Lumineers; but now they’ve dived into a whole new genre: barbeque sauce!
And why not! Every band, especially when they’re on the road, needs to eat something satisfying and delicious before the show. From all their touring and tasting, Dine Alone Records founder Joel Carriere and Alexisonfire’s Jordan Hastings created Dine Alone Foods and came up with three lip-smacking sauces. Tasting them at their Canadian Music Week launch party at Dog & Bear Pub recently, I was happily blown away. Hogtown Smoke provided the meats that we indulgently skewered and dunked under brilliant waterfalls of 100% natural barbeque sauce. Pure heaven.
The classic Southern Blues BBQ sauce is like an Allman Brothers jam, thick and sweet with a bit of poblano spice. Northern Soul is some heavy Smoke on the Water with a chipotle kick. And the Rock N’ Roll hot sauce has flavour and heat pouring out like a Yamaha speaker at an AC/DC concert.
Barbecue season is upon us. Good food and good music need to be savoured with culinary rock ‘n’ roll decadence. For more info check it out at:
