DINE Bits ‘n’ Bites

Over four kilos of white truffles were shaved at Coppi Ristorante’s Tuber Magnetum harvest this year. Before it’s too late, taste their taglierini al tartufo, beef carpaccio, uova al tegamino, taglierini, risotto in bianco… these are just some of their time-enduring dishes topped with generous shavings of White Truffle.

For something different than the normal bookings, this year book a holiday gathering at Inniskillin or Jackson-Triggs, with menus starting at $25 per person.

With the end of the 2011 Harvest comes two new releases from Inniskillin Wines: 2010 Riesling Legacy and 2010 Chardonnay EW Series. The philosophy behind Legacy is simple: winemaker, Bruce Nicholson, chooses the most outstanding varietal from the vintage and makes one very limited wine. The process starts in the vineyards selecting certain outstanding lots of one grape variety. Legacy is the top tier of Inniskillin table wines bearing a distinctive gold label and Nicholson’s signature.

Equifera Estate Winery is pleased to announce the release of DZ Vidal Icewine at Vintages. (Equi = wild, Fera = horse, in Greek.) The Equifera Estate Winery is a 50-acre vineyard located in the Short Hills region of Pelham along the Niagara Escarpment. The Equifera Vidal, a DZ icewine, was released at select LCBO Vintage locations throughout Ontario on Saturday November 26. Donald Ziraldo, founding chairman of the VQA, Order of Canada recipient, and Canada’s global ambassador of Icewine, took on this new project as the vintner of Equifera Icewine. Ziraldo was on hand to present his DZ icewine at the LCBO Vintages, 2946 Bloor St West, Toronto on November 26th.
