The secret life of an art gallery owner is out! Brian Liss confided in singer/songwriter Pat Kelly that he had written a series of poetry; a “Lisseries.” It wasn’t long before Mr. Kelly had taken Liss’s poem and set it to music, igniting the flame for what would become Lisseries Vol. 1. The duo brought the foundation of the project -17 guitar and vocal tracks – to producer/songwriter John Jamieson (Shania Twain, Peter Bloom Band), and soon Billy Dee Williams came to the project to voice the tracks.
And so it came to pass that on a very cold night in March, the Liss Gallery sizzled with erotic words set to music, narrated by the incomparable Billy Dee Williams to an awestruck and appreciative audience.
This drama unfolded in tandem with an an exhibition of vibrant new works by veteran actor/artist Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi, Lady Sings the Blues) . Okay, as Lando Calrissian he betrayed Han Solo in Star Wars, but it wasn’t his fault. He was only following the script. His works of jazz musicians are a joy to see at the gallery and in your own home.
The Lisseries album is currently available to sample and download at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/brianliss . The track “That First Night” is available as a free download, compliments of Liss Gallery.
