Imagine this: A condo that has its own spa. The roof of the podium, for example, holds an outdoor pool and sheltering cabanas; step through the sliding glass doors and you have a year-round whirlpool. Floors five, six and seven of this thirty eight story condo has saunas, a workout room with both resistance and cardio equipment, showers, change rooms, a party room, lounge, yoga room and screening room where you can host movie parties. Since St. Lawrence Market is steps away, the farmers come to you with the freshest and best foods, and you need only go to pick it up. Having guests for the weekend? Put them up in one of the two guest suites. Worried about security? No need thanks to round-the-clock concierges on the front desk.
They’ve named it BACKSTAGE, simply because it is on the Esplanade, just in back of the Sony Center at Yonge and Front. The suites themselves are models of efficiency and artful design, from the cutting edge imagination of Munge Leung Design Associates . All suites come complete with Bosch Energy Star rated appliances, granite counter tops and engineered hardwood flooring. Since the north side of Backstage has curved suites they offer panoramic views of the city. Those facing east, south and west capture Toronto’s vibrant waterfront areas, Lake Ontario and the islands.
Symbolic of the good taste of the developers, Cityzen Developments Sam Crignano, Fernbrook Homes and Castlepoint Realty Partners Ltd., they launched their showroom at 22 The Esplanade with a luncheon prepared by Toben Kochman, Executive Chef at TFBD Catering.
Sampling some of Toben’s savoury menu items are from left: Danny Salvatore, president Fernbrook Homes; Toben Kochman of TFBD Catering; Sam Crignano, president of Cityzen Development and Robert Cheung, owner Milkin Holdings Limited.
A graduate of the Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts in Paris, as well as an impressive career in restaurant kitchens, Toben is a chef to watch. Look for a story about this young chef and some of his recipes, right here, next week.
