Kings of Pastry

What they say about the foodie movie of the year:

“You’ll be surprised by how devastating the collapse of a chocolate tower can be” — Mike Hale, The New York Times

“Intriguing, Mouthwatering, Irresistible” — Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“I never saw so many strong men sobbing at once.” — The Guardian

The latest collaboration from master documentarians D. A. Pennebaker (Don’t Look Back) and Chris Hegedus (, Kings of Pastry is a delicious behind-the-scenes exposé of one of the world’s most intense cooking events. Every year in France, the country’s greatest pastry and dessert chefs gather to be judged by their peers in a gruelling culinary competition. The winner joins the ranks of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF), an exclusive group of France’s best craftsmen, who are honoured with the right to don the MOF’s red, white and blue collar. Raising the art of sugaring to high drama, Pennebaker and Hegedus create a marvelously suspenseful atmosphere where each spilt drop threatens to derail the chefs’ creations and dash their dreams—while never losing sight of the fact that the cherished goal is the world’s most ornate cream puff.
